Food Industry Skills Level 2 Welsh Apprenticeship Review
The NSAFD are working with the food and drink industry in Wales in order to ensure the industry has the right apprenticeships to meet their needs.
Welsh Government requirements for redevelopment of apprenticeships in Wales and employer consultation feedback suggests the current Apprenticeships need to be more technical and aligned to recognised job roles.
Through this consultation, we would welcome feedback on the proposed structures for the review of the L2 Food Industry Skills qualifications that underpin this apprenticeship. It will be of particular interest to stakeholders including prospective apprentices, awarding bodies, assessors, providers and employers.
The proposal for the review of the L2 Food Industry Skills apprenticeship is that it is split into an apprenticeship for process operations and an apprenticeship for food sales/service and also incorporates elements of Food Manufacturing Excellence, which would be discontinued as apprenticeships at L2 and L3.
The consultation questionnaire includes a number of questions. These questions are not exhaustive and we would also welcome your comments on any related issue. Please provide reasons alongside your answers where possible.
The consultation period will run to 30th September 2020.
Every comment is valuable. Thank you very much for taking part. Please complete all the following short questions to help us put your views in context.
For which type of organisation are you commenting?
The Steering Group responsible for leading on the review of the Food Industry Skills Apprenticeship has recommended two brand new qualifications be developed to deliver the technical requirements for occupations at Level 2. They are recommending two new competence-based qualifications which are more clearly aligned to job roles in the sector – one for process operations and one for food sales/service.
