Performance criteria
You must be able to:
analyse shooting schedules and production plans to identify the time and location of strikes and resources required
liaise with other departments about the timing of strikes and modify plans when required
obtain strike notices and/or clearances relevant to each job before commencing ab strike
allocate and sequence the strike tasks, to ensure that the work is carried out safely and efficiently
communicate the strike requirements to the team carrying out the strike
obtain packing materials, and arrange transport to meet strike deadlines
arrange for the set dressing to be disassembled
arrange for set dressing to be labelled and returned or stored
ensure that props match property lists
assess whether damaged items can be replaced or repaired for the production, update records, and report all damaged items to relevant personnel
check that items are handled and packed to facilitate safe and secure onwards transportation
separate items no longer needed from those still required on the production
ensure that items which are no longer required are returned, stored appropriately, recycled, or disposed of safely
check and confirm that all items are packed to meet production continuity schedules, and in a logical sequence
report and record damaged or lost items to appropriate personnel, departments, or organisations
check that all items are stored safely and hygienically, to maintain their condition and security for future use
ensure that heavy or bulky items are handled according to the relevant health and safety legislation, regulations, and protocols

You need to know and understand:
how to analyse shooting schedules and shooting plans
the timescales and deadlines required for striking sets and how to adapt plans as required
typical strike tasks, and how to identify and allocate them and communicate the strike needs to the team undertaking the strike
types of set dressing and props, their characteristics and uses, and how they are typically disassembled, packed, and transported
procedures for checking and confirming the condition and identity of props and set dressings
procedures for dealing with lost or damaged items
how to identify which items will be needed in future
how to check the information from other departments regarding the items to strike has been received
how to handle items safely
the health and safety legislation, regulations, and protocols
which props and materials can be recycled, and the relevant recycling methods
