Performance criteria
You must be able to do:
select and prepare costumes for the fitting process
arrange convenient fitting times in line with the production schedule
carry out the fitting in accordance with fitting room etiquette and procedures
use the mirror reflection to assess fit/look
communicate with the performers in a polite, sensitive and professional manner
assess requirements and recognise faults in garments make, fit, and finish
consider costume rigging /special effects when fitting
take and record accurate appropriate measurements and make calculations as required
assess and estimate additional fabric /material requirements
prepare costumes for alternations or re-make
confirm and communicate alterations required and the timescale to the person(s) carrying out the alteration work
compare altered costumes with agreed alteration requirements and confirm match
label costumes with comprehensive, clear information
collaborate with production staff and performers to confirm that the design brief is being met
check costumes for correct fit following alterations
communicate alteration issues with the relevant persons (s) in a timely and discrete manner
liaise with the relevant persons (s) / departments with regard to multi costumes, special effects and make-up
store information according to procedures and adhering to confidentiality rules
communicate with production staff and other relevant departments or individuals
follow health and safety legislation and guidelines at all times
