This may involve ensuring costumes match the design specification throughout the shoot, ensuring that performers’ dress matches the previous sequential take, agreeing alterations due to unscripted events during shooting, ensuring minimal interruptions to the production schedule and keeping accurate continuity records
This standard may be applicable to costume supervisors, costume stand bys and wardrobe/ costume assistants.
Performance criteria
You must be able to do:
check performers’ dress against the costume breakdown
ensure that the performers’ dress at the commencement of shooting meets the design brief and matches the previous sequential take
ensure that the performers’ dress at the end of shooting meets the design brief
pay attention to costume detail and correct if required
agree changes when alterations are required as a result of unscripted events during the shoot
consult with the relevant person(s) as to the appropriate resources and equipment to record continuity
minimise disruption to the production schedule when dressing or re-dressing performers for continuity
ensure on-set etiquette when maintaining continuity
gather information for continuity record purposes without intrusion, obtaining details from reliable sources where it was not possible to be present at the take
record relevant costume details using digital resources where possible
consult with the supervisor on appropriate action to take when special effects raise health and safety issues
follow confidentiality rules and procedures
keep complete, up-to-date, accurate and accessible records of costume continuity details
communicate with production staff and other relevant departments or individuals
follow health and safety legislation and guidelines at all times
