You must be able to:
interpret the brief and confirm with the relevant people the work that is required of you
research and obtain the information you need to carry out work effectively
negotiate a realistic schedule and time within budget for the edit that balances the needs of the client with time to produce work of the appropriate quality
communicate any issues with progress, quality or work methods that impact on workflow and enables others resolve problems
manage own workload and ensure that agreed deadlines are met
work in an organised way so that others can access your work when necessary
operate systems and equipment, solving any day to day problems that may occur
solve problems, explain limitations and find ways around issues with given media
consider and suggest viable alternatives to improve the edit
act on feedback, identifying how to make changes required and accepting creative decisions of others
provide details about copyright of images or sound to the relevant people
deliver the edited content to brief
