Performance Criteria
You need to know and understand:
identify, in consultation with the relevant person such as lighting designer, which console settings will be used
discuss and agree any special requirements, with the relevant person, and any limitations or problems in the system
set channels on the console to produce the desired effect for the camera shot
set up and use backup systems when required
operate the console in line with Health and Safety regulations
communicate as required with relevant people
adjust the light balance to meet the requirements of the person responsible for the design of the lighting
control out of sight lighting operations
line up vision monitoring when required
adjust the lighting consistently, and in harmony with the production
inform the person responsible for the design of the lighting of any equipment failure or fault which might affect the action or shooting
adjust individual channels to satisfy production requirements
interpret ways in which the lighting balance may change in harmony with the camera and artiste movement
identify and resolve problems and production constraints
maintain communication with production staff, including producer and director
operate and monitor video
monitor the load in use
plan DMX control channel allocation and DMX data systems (cabling and hardware)
carry out correct `patching' of DMX control channels to DMX equipment
ensure use of DMX controls and data systems in accordance with manufacturers' instructions
