SKSCCL2 Download and deliver rushes for productions
Overview
This Standard is about downloading and delivering rushes for productions. This can apply to digital or film cameras. This could apply to any type of production including feature films, TV dramas, commercials, documentaries, sports coverage, outside broadcast and live or stage events.
It includes downloading rushes in appropriate conditions for the medium, downloading rushes using appropriate procedures, storing and labelling rushes, compiling related documents, delivering rushes and documents and working to deadline.
This standard is relevant to those responsible for downloading and delivering rushes for productions including those working as 2nd assistants or clapper loaders.
Performance Criteria
You must be able to:
download rushes in appropriate conditions for the medium on which they were captured
download rushes in line with accepted processes for the medium on which there were captured
store and label rushes in line with production requirements
deliver rushes and related documents to appropriate people in production
deliver rushes in compliance with agreed deadlines when possible
the role of others involved and when to liaise with them including camera operators, and 1st camera assistants or focus pullers
how to store cameras and lenses safely and securely
any special requirements to ensure the safety and security of equipment when left unattended
relevant manufacturers’ instructions for the equipment in use
the requirements of the relevant Health and Safety legislation and procedures
Knowledge and Understanding
You need to know and understand:
production deadlines and expectations for downloading rushes
events that can affect deadlines in a production environment
production procedures relating to downloading rushes
the different equipment and conditions required to download rushes from both media cards and film stock
how to work with film including how to deal with short ends, waste procedures and how to deal with loose or unevenly wound film
production labelling and documentation requirements
