Performance Criteria
You must be able to:
confirm that electrical safety test labels for equipment and cables are in date
confirm that equipment and cables show no signs of physical damage
verify that electrical supply meets safety requirements
select monitor positions, in consultation with relevant people, that provide best available line of sight for those who need it
position all monitors so that they are secure, stable and present no hazard
sling or ramp cables to avoid blocking fire lanes, entrances or exits, and to conform to relevant safety standards
ensure that the correct sequence of plugging up, and switching on, is maintained
lift and handle monitors and cables in a manner which is safe to yourself and to others
provide any necessary shading and weather proofing to meet requirements of location
place monitors in positions which are clear of lighting and out of camera shot
switch on monitor feeds in accordance with instructions
obtain optimum picture quality using appropriate test equipment and sources
identify and correct any faults in line with appropriate procedures

how and when to apply the relevant health & safety guidelines and legislation
safe lifting and handling techniques including how to avoid unnecessary lifting
different sources of video feed and who is responsible for providing them including mixer output, previews and effects feeds
how to feed several monitors from a single video source
what electrical and physical safety requirements may apply to cables and cable routing
how to switch monitor feeds during productions
how to adjust a picture monitor and use test signal generators
