IMPDT12 – Contribute to site security in the spirits industry

 

Overview

This standard covers monitoring and maintenance of spirit asset security in the spirits industry and applies to the buildings designed to contain non-duty paid spirits.

It covers activities including:

•             site and warehouse security patrols

•             lock/key and seal control

•             spirit, vessel, pump and pipe work security

•             the security of duty free samples

 

Performance criteria

You must be able to:

1.            contribute to site security in accordance with relevant organisational health and safety requirements, quality standards, environmental standards and Revenue and Customs requirements

2.            follow the organisational security procedures

3.            check for potential breaches of security from customers, staff and other external threats

4.            identify and deal with security alerts in accordance with relevant organisational and legal requirements

5.            report security problems to the relevant person

6.            communicate with relevant colleagues when contributing to site security in accordance with organisational requirements

7.            complete all records in accordance with organisational procedures

 

Knowledge and understanding

You need to know and understand

1.            how to contribute to site security in accordance with the current legislation and the organisational health and safety, hygiene, environmental, quality standards and instructions, Revenue and Customs requirements

2.            the organisational security standards, how they are applied, and what may happen if they are not applied correctly

3.            the action to be taken if there is variance from the organisational security standards and what may happen if this is not done

4.            how to interpret displays on specified security equipment

5.            why it is important to keep records and what might happen if this is not done

6.            what should be communicated, to whom and why it should be done

7.            the limits of your authority and the consequences of exceeding them
