This standard covers the skills and knowledge needed to prepare existing and newly restored surfaces and finish furniture using basic finishing methods.
Outcomes
Performance Criteria
You must be able to:
1. comply with health and safety requirements and procedures at all times
2. obtain specifications and requirements following standard operating procedures
3. obtain equipment and materials required following standard operating procedures
4. check equipment is set up correctly and in good working order following standard operating procedures and any manufacturer’s instructions
5. check materials required meet specifications, are free from faults and comply with any manufacturer’s instructions
6. prepare surfaces following standard operating procedures
7. colour match finishes to meet specifications
8. apply surface finishes following standard operating procedures
9. check completed finishes meet specifications
