Overview

The standard covers the skills and knowledge required to produce piped crescent tiebacks.

This includes:

1              selecting materials

2              constructing tiebacks

3              cutting

4              producing and constructing bias strips and piping

5              finishing

 

The standard is aimed at those working in soft furnishings.

You must be able to:      

1.            comply with health, safety and environmental requirements, relevant statutory regulations and industry standards/codes of practice at all times

2.            identify and confirm specifications for the work being undertaken

3.            work with colleagues to achieve specifications

4.            evaluate the suitability of materials for use in the construction of tiebacks

5.            select and match fabric types for e tiebacks

6.            check stiffening and filling materials for suitability of use in tiebacks

8.            attach and conceal tieback rings to meet specifications

18.          machine stitch piping using the appropriate stitch, tension and method to meet specifications

19.          finish stitching to meet specifications

20.          secure piping ensuring an even finish to meet specifications

21.          conceal machine stitching around piping cords

22.          prevent piping cords ruching after sewing

23.          carry out your work to the required quality and output to meet production schedules and targets

24.          identify any problems and deal with them according to standard operating procedures
