Performance Criteria
You must be able to:
1. comply with health and safety requirements and procedures at all times
2. obtain specifications and requirements of the items to be produced following standard operating procedures
3. work with colleagues to achieve specifications
4. select suitable materials for the construction of valances
5. cut fabrics and components to specified measurements
6. calculate, measure and construct pleats creating an even effect following standard operating procedures
7. secure each section of the pleat with appropriate stitching to meet specifications
8. construct headings to meet specifications
9. stuff headings to meet specifications
10. secure linings to outer fabrics to meet specifications
11. insert buckrams to meet specifications
12. machine finish valances by applying the appropriate stitch, tension and methods following standard operating procedures and manufacturers instructions
13. machine stitch to specified measurements
14. check there is no visible disturbance to valance fronts following standard operating procedures and manufacturers instructions
15. finish stitching following standard operating procedures and manufacturers instructions
16. carry out your work to the required quality and output to meet production schedules and targets
17. identify any problems and deal with them according to standard operating procedures
