Restore sewerage network to an appropriate condition
Overview
This Standard is about restoring the function of the sewerage network either on a planned basis or in response to notification of a malfunction of the system. It includes identifying the work to be carried out, carrying out the maintenance with the right method and tools and verifying and testing the restored sewerage network. Maintenance activities could include activities such as making repairs or water-jetting.
This Standard is aimed at anyone who restores sewerage networks to an appropriate condition.
Performance Criteria
You must be able to:
identify the position of sewerage networks requiring remedial action in accordance with approved procedures and practices
select an appropriate water supply in accordance with approved procedures and practices
establish remedial action requirements in accordance with relevant technical procedures
select information, plant, tools and equipment that are appropriate for remedial action
notify individuals and organisations affected by remedial action in accordance with relevant company procedures
report problems outside the scope of the job holder in accordance with relevant company procedures
identify and report external factors which prevent the job being carried out when required to appropriate people
identify the risks associated with confined spaces, and the associated control measures
prepare tools and equipment in accordance with approved procedures and practices, reporting any defects and deficiencies to appropriate people
carry out work activities in accordance with approved procedures and practices at all times
dispose of waste materials in accordance with approved procedures and practices
verify and test maintained sewerage network in accordance with approved procedures and practices
record and report work activities and outcomes in accordance with relevant company procedures
identify faults and damage outside the scope of your job
report faults and damage in accordance with relevant company procedures
recommend possible temporary arrangements to protect the operation and condition of sewers and ancillaries, properties and the environment in accordance with approved procedures and practices
ensure records of faults and damage are accurate and legible, and are reported in accordance with relevant company procedures
ensure work activities conform with approved procedures and practices at all times
