Project management involves considering any limitations that may affect how well you are able to respond to a new project, working out what skills, materials and equipment will be needed and planning and monitoring progress. It also involves evaluating the effectiveness of the project management in ensuring that a good design service was provided to the client.

You must be able to:
1. set sufficient time aside at an appropriate point in the negotiations to review the way that you will respond to a client brief
2. accurately identify current strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in relation to new projects
3. predict any significant factors that may be likely to cause problems in undertaking the project
4. seek advice to ensure additional information is gathered to confirm accuracy of judgements made
5. discuss and agree the limit of your role and responsibilities
6. accurately identify skills needed to complete the work, including any external agents
