Overview 

This standard covers evaluating and recommending changes to policies and processes used for access on productions. The evaluation may be requested formally by the production or shared as best practice within the access coordination community. Users of this standard will need to ensure that practice reflects up to date information and policies.

This standard is for access coordinators.

 

Performance Criteria

You must be able to: 

  1. evaluate the effectiveness of access plans, policies and processes on a production in achieving their intended purpose
  2. support the production with the evaluation of access policies and processes to identify potential issues with access
  3. bring issues about the implementation of access plans, policies and processes to the attention of production team as required
  4. develop clear recommendations for improving access plans, policies and processes that strike the best balance between the achievements made and any noted shortfalls
  5. make recommendations in a suitable format and at the appropriate time
  6. provide clarification when others misinterpret or query the recommendations provided
  7. share your findings and recommendations with fellow access professionals to improve practice in access coordination in line with data protection legislation and non-disclosure agreements

 

Knowledge and Understanding 

You need to know and understand: 

  1. the importance of having agreed access plans, policies and processes on a production
  2. the evaluation processes for access on productions
  3. how to apply negotiation and influencing skills
  4. the concept of policy and process, development, implementation and evaluation
  5. how to evaluate the access plans and processes used
  6. how to present information and recommendations which capture people's interests and encourage them to take action
  7. how to develop recommendations which strike the best balance between the different factors which have to be taken into account
  8. how to present recommendations for access coordination in forms which are suitable for the audience who are to use them
  9. the relationship between offering support and identifying issues and problems with access coordination
  10. the specific legislation, regulations and production guidelines that relate to the work being undertaken and the impact of these on the work
  11. the codes of practice and protocols about confidentiality and information sharing between access coordinators working in partnership
  12. how to record recommendations for improvements in line with data protection legislation and production requirements including non-disclosure agreements (NDAs)
