Overview

This standard focuses on the pre-assembly tasks required for wind turbines in the renewable energy sector. It involves preparing components and equipment for assembly, conducting pre-assembly checks, and ensuring adherence to safety and environmental regulations throughout the process.

Performance criteria 

Plan and Prepare for Pre-Assembly

  1. follow and maintain safe working and environment practices in accordance with health and safety regulations and environmental legislation throughout the duration of the work
  2. determine the pre-assembly site using project documentation and site plans.
  3. confirm and sequence tasks necessary for pre-assembly activities
  4. conduct a site-specific risk assessment, adhering to health and safety regulations
  5. develop a pre-assembly plan in accordance with your organisation’s policies and procedures

Prepare Tools and Equipment for Pre-Assembly

  1. Select and prepare tools and equipment required for pre-assembly tasks in accordance with manufacturer specifications
  2. communicate pre-assembly plans to relevant stakeholders, ensuring compliance with safety regulations
  3. inspect and conduct pre-use checks on tools and equipment according to prescribed guidelines

Conduct Pre-Assembly Tasks:

  1. review documentation and specifications related to pre-assembly procedure
  2. utilise appropriate tools and techniques to conduct pre-assembly tasks
  3. identify and address any issues or discrepancies encountered during pre-assembly

Restore Work Site After Pre-Assembly

  1. store tools and equipment upon completion of pre-assembly activities
  2. leave the pre-assembly site in a clean and orderly condition, following good housekeeping practices.

Utilise and Communicate Data

  1. report any faulty or malfunctioning tools and equipment promptly
  2. maintain detailed records of pre-assembly activities in line with your organisation’s requirements

Problem Resolution

  1. address and resolve issues within the scope of pre-assembly responsibilities
  2. report problems outside your role to designated
