Overview 

This standard is about contributing ideas to the creative process in radio and audio.

You will need to use the techniques of storytelling, think creatively, collaborate with others, and overcome any obstacles to creativity.

This standard applies to all those who contribute ideas to the creative process in the radio and audio industries

 

Performance Criteria 

You must be able to: 

  1. identify the creative possibilities that are appropriate for the genre and distribution platform
  2. apply concepts of storytelling, format and structure to the development of creative content 
  3. generate ideas for radio and audio content using valid creative thinking techniques
  4. present your ideas for radio and audio content to others in ways that show their advantages
  5. respond constructively to the ideas of others
  6. collaborate with others in ways that allow knowledge and good practice to be shared
  7. identify risks to new ideas and creativity and mitigate these

 

Knowledge and understanding 

You need to know and understand: 

  1. the creative opportunities and limitations of platforms and devices for the delivery of radio and audio content
  2. the basic principles of storytelling and how to apply them to the creation of radio and audio content
  3. the concepts of format and structure in relation to all types of audio and multi platform content
  4. the creative opportunities and limitations of radio and audio visualisation techniques
  5. the use of techniques to stimulate ideas generation and creative thinking for radio and audio content creation
  6. the benefits of collaborative working and knowledge sharing
  7. how to take acceptable risks to create and innovate and learn from best practice and previous mistakes
  8. the relevant legal, ethical, editorial and organisational policies that may apply
