Draft National Occupational Standards for Physical Special Effects (PSFX)

Welcome to the online consultation on the draft National Occupational Standards for Physical Special Effects (PSFX). National Occupational Standards are simply lists of what you need to do and know to carry out a work activity.

These standards cover the skills and knowledge required to use specialist equipment to plan, create and implement physical and pyrotechnic special effects for productions.

ScreenSkills is working very closely with the Bectu branch on the review and update of these standards and have agreed that due to heavy workloads for experts at this current time, stakeholders and experts should be directed to the existing Functional Map and existing standards so they can review these in their own time to confirm any industry changes before workshops are held to discuss any revisions or additions later this year and / or early next year.

We appreciate that there are a number of standards for this area, but please feel free to just comment on the parts that are of interest to you.

The consultation end date is midday on 1st February 2024.

Thank you very much for taking part – we value all your comments and will use every comment we receive to revise the draft Standards so that the final version best reflects your industry.
